Yeasayer unveil video for “Madder Red” starring Kristen Bell

Yeasayer have unleashed the video for their new single “Madder Red” which, with “Ambling Alp” and “O.N.E.”, makes a trilogy of fantastic and bizarre videos from their second album Odd Blood. This one demonstrates the extent to which Yeasayer’s popularity has risen over the past year; they have managed to snag Hollywood starlet Kristen Bell to star in it.

Bell looks as adorable as ever looking after her giant skull, blob, thing as it suffers. She also finds time to fit in an audition of some sort. For now you can only check out the clip at either The Guardian or Pitchfork.

Video: Yeasayer perform “Ambling Alp” on Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon is proving to be the slightly cooler version of Carson Daly these days when it comes to late night television. It was not long ago when he invited Raekwon to perform on his show, and he recently nabbed Yeasayer to bring their special brand of psychedelia-influenced pop. They played “Ambling Alp,” complete with bells!

As much as we all hate the Animal Collective comparisons, their stage set-up does seem to take cues from Animal Collective’s staging for their Merriweather Post Pavilion tour. Just an observation.

Yeasayer’s new album, Odd Blood, is currently available on Secretly Canadian. You should also check out this new “Ambling Alp” remix below:

The physical release of “O.N.E.” is expected on March 23. Odd Blood will be available on February 8 in the U.K. (via Mute) and February 9 in North America (via Secretly Canadian).

Artwork revealed for Yeasayer’s Odd Blood

Yesterday, the psychedelic-meets-futuristic artwork was revealed for the upcoming Yeasayer album, Odd Blood (due Feb. 9, 2010 on Secretly Canadian).

Front:
yeasayeroddblood_front

Back:
yeasayeroddblood_back

It seems very fitting for an album that Secretly Canadian describes as being sonically divided into two halves, with the first part representing “twisted chopped and screwed” pop, and the second half of the album representing “paranoid” science fiction-tinged experimentalism. The artwork for the front and back covers seem to correspond to the sound perfectly. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the packaging entails.

The album artwork was designed by Benjamin Phelan. You can check out the rest of his work here.
