Weezer might take Pinkerton on Tour

Woah! According to Weezer’s guitarist Brian Bell, a Pinkerton tour might be on its way.

Bell was interviewed at the Mile High Music Festival, and discussed the new album Hurley, and the Pinkerton reissue which will include new packaging and possibly a tour.

Check out the full interview below.

We’re certainly excited by the possibility. Although we here at One Thirty BPM have been disappointed by Weezer’s recent efforts, we still love Pinkerton and can’t knock Weezer’s great live performance, especially when drummer Josh Freese was brought onto last year’s Blink-182/Weezer tour. Regardless if Freese returns for any future tours, a Pinkerton tour would truly be something.

Weezer Reveals Hurley Album Art

So you know how everyone was joking that Hurley would be an album based on the big guy from the TV show LOST? Well..it actually sort of is. Not musically, but the album art revealed today is a picture of actor Jorge Garcia who played Hurley on the hit TV show. When asked about it, Rivers said the following:

“We just wanted to use that picture of Jorge Garcia’s face on the cover. It’s such an amazing album cover, and we didn’t want to have any other words on it, so we just figured everyone was going to call it Hurley, so that’s what we call it.”

You can hear the new single “Memories” here. The picture itself is a cropped version of when Rivers met Jorge Garcia and they took a picture together. You can see that below:

Hurley is out Sept 14th via Epitaph.

MP3: Weezer – “Memories”

So who pissed Rivers Cuomo off? Weezer revealed the new single “Memories” off their upcoming album Hurley and the song is definitely different from anything they have put out this past decade. As the title suggests, it seems like Rivers is trying to get back to an older time/sound. A lot of angst and aggression. Of course, the lyrics are still hokey. And the question we are still wondering, is this an album about that fat guy from LOST?

Hurley drops September 14th 2010 on Epitaph.

Canadiana Part II: Ottawa Bluesfest – nothing to be blue about

Living in the capital of Canada, (Ottawa, Ontario), the last thing you start to expect from your city is to be rich in the arts. I mean, with parliament a stone’s throw away from any part in the city, Ottawa is more about politics than it is about the arts. This summer is different, though.

Every July, the city puts on a 10 day music festival called Ottawa Bluesfest in which they bring many different musicians (not all blues, last years before they brought Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Fergie, Wyclef Jean and Kanye West). Although there are usually 2 or 3 decent names on the bill, for the past 4 years, I have deemed the festival “not worth my time or money.” Again, this summer is different. With names like Andrew Bird, the B52s, Hole, Joan Jett, Metric, Passion Pit, the Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, Drake, Stars, Jimmy Cliff and Weezer, the festival pleases audience of all kinds.

The festival began July 6th, starting the 10 day run with Iron Maiden, which I skipped out on and am happy to say that I did as from what I’ve heard they didn’t even play “Run for the Hills.” I started attending July 8th and went to six full nights up until the last night, July 18th.

To cover the festival as a whole, I most definitely had to write more than I could fit on this page, so by clicking the “more” link below, you can read all about my six days of hot weather, late nights and great music.
