Weezer working on Red Album follow-up

Weezer is set to hit the studio in November to begin on a follow up to June’s eponymous “red” album. Given the fact that their latest disc barely just came out 4 months ago, it looks like Rivers and co have hit a new artistic streak. The band clearly feels a rejuvenated energy – which is expressed by drummer Pat Wilson in a recent interview with Billboard magazine.

According to Wilson, all four members will again be writing and contributing vocals for the band’s as-yet-untitled seventh studio album. Wilson describes this more collaborative approach as a “healthy way to keep everything feeling fresh” after 15 years together. This is either a really good thing or a really bad thing, depending on whether or not you were a fan of the Red Album tracks not penned by bandleader and chief songwriter Rivers Cuomo. Wilson also mentioned that they might name their next album after another color. The band will once again team up with Red Album producer Jackknife Lee.

Weezer is currently on tour with Tokyo Police Club and Angels & Airwaves in support of the Red Album. Full tour dates after the jump.
