Packaging Review: U2 – No Line On The Horizon

The moment U2 announced that No Line on the Horizon would be released in 5 formats – you probably wondered which one to buy. I wish I could tell you that most of them are gimmicks, and the lowest priced one is your best buy. However this is not the case. I recently got my hands on all 5 of the different packages, and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and effort put into most of them. Out of all the packages, the Vinyl and the Digipack were the most impressive for the price range.

U2 to Play Letterman 5 Nights In A Row

U2 announced today that they will be playing David Letterman’s show 5 nights in a row form March 2nd to the 6th. They will be the first band in CBS history to play almost a whole week. If that’s not great marketing for an album, I don’t know what is. If only U2 gets a chance to play 2 songs a night, we would almost have the new album played in its entirety live. No Line on the Horizon come out in the US on March 3rd.

U2 reveals No Line On The Horizon cover and tracklist

You are looking at the album art for U2′s highly anticipated new album No Line On The Horizon. The band, who has put themselves on the cover for the last several releases, finally goes with something reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails’ Ghosts I-IV.

No Line On The Horizon was produced by the classic U2 team of Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, and Steve Lillywhite. The Rick Rubin sessions were apparently not used on the record at all.

The first single is “Get On Your Boots”, which comes out on February 15th digitally, and is supposed to hit radio next week. It will then be performed at the BRIT Awards. The album drops in Ireland on February 27th, in Europe March 2nd, and in North America on March 3rd.

U2 reveal five editions of “No Line on the Horizon,” Corbijn film

Earlier this week U2 announced that their twelfth studio album, No Line on the Horizon, would be released on March 3rd. Now, Amazon has revealed that the album, U2′s first since 2004′s multiplatinum How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, will be released in five separate editions, at varying price points, with the most expensive retailing for nearly $100.

In addition to standard CD and vinyl editions, the band will also offer a $35 digipak edition, a $50 magazine and a deluxe $95 box set.

Longtime U2 photographer Anton Corbijn has also directed a new film featuring the band’s music. This film will be available as a digital download with the purchase of the digipak and magazine editions of the album, as well as on a DVD with the box set.

Cover art and a full track list for No Line on the Horizon is yet to be announced, though the album will likely include “Moment of Surrender,” “Unknown Caller,” and the title track. U2 is also expected to embark on a major world tour in 2009, their first since signing a massive touring deal with LiveNation.
