Tomboy 7″
“Tomboy” / “Slow Motion”
[Paw Tracks; 2010]

Panda Bear, aka Noah Lennox of Animal Collective, is due to release his third solo album Tomboy this September. This coming Tuesday is set to see the release of the first single from the album, the title track “Tomboy” on 7″ single with the b-side “Slow Motion.” Due to some of the singles being shipped early, mp3 vinyl rips of the tracks have found their way on to the internet and you can check them both out below.
And on July 13th via Paw Tracks Panda Bear will be releasing a limited edition single of “Tomboy,” the first track off of his forthcoming LP. The single is to be backed with “Slow Motion” a track which will be instantly recognizable to fans of his past work. Between the genre bending drum kick, the fluctuating falsetto and patterned vocals, “Slow Motion” appears to be not only a great b-side but a spectacular track on its own. And recently a bootleg recording of Panda Bear at this year’s Primavera Sound Festival has leaked, revealing a near studio quality offering of the track. Be sure to pre-order the “Tomboy” single to ensure a copy and preview the spectacular “Slow Motion” below. [via]
A while ago, music news sites were aflutter with the rumor that Panda Bear’s next LP was to be called Tomboy, and Panda Bear’s publicist has since confirmed those rumors, according to Pitchfork. Tomboy it is, then.
The album will serve as the follow-up to Panda’s critically-acclaimed Person Pitch (2007), and it is expected to be released in September on Paw Tracks Records. That’s a long time from now, considering Panda has been rocking some new material very recently, but hopefully good things really do come to those who wait.
Finally, a first real look at the upcoming visual album from Animal Collective and director Danny Perez. The visual album premieres tonight at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
This may seem like an odd choice for the group coming off of 2009′s critically acclaimed Merriweather Post Pavilion (onethirtybpm Review / The Top 50 Albums of 2009) but the project has been in the works for a few years now.
With a visual album being released and a new Panda Bear album seemingly on the way, 2010 is sure to be an exciting year for Animal Collective fans.

Via Ramin Ton:
On January 15th Panda Bear from Animal Collective played a show with Pantha du Prince at Hebbel Am Ufer. And it was all new material, most likely from the upcoming record (except for Daily Routine). He played guitar on many songs which I’ve never seen before.
The recording isn’t too good because the bass was too load for recording. Yet the sound is good enough to listen to it, to get the feeling and even understand the words.
I recorded Pantha du Prince too, but the sound of that recording is so bad that I think no one would want to hear it. If somebody wants to anyway, please comment and I’ll upload it.

Sure, it’s not an EP, or a visual album, but the addition of the live b-side is quite nice.
