Department of Eagles, side-project of Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen, have a new album/compilation coming out in July. The album is called Archive 2003-2006 and features outtakes and b-sides from the duo. We don’t really know what to expect from it, but this track “Brightest Minds” might give us an idea.
Filter reports that they have teamed up with American Eagle Outfitters to gather rarities, covers, and remixes from an all-star cast of musicians to create Hear to Help, a compilation to benefit the crisis in Haiti. The CD will feature Surfer Blood, Vampire Weekend, Julian Casablancas, Busdriver, Grizzly Bear, and many other notable players in today’s music scene. Check out that intriguing tracklist for yourself:

This one’s is for those of you who who have held off from listening to that low-quality Veckatimest rip that has been floating around. Warp released this 192kbps MP3 of this track yesterday, which is entitled “Cheerleader”.
It’s great to hear one of my favorite tracks from the album at a higher fidelity. Yep, I caved in a gave the leak one full listen and I regret it, you know, just to assure myself of its excellence. But in all seriousness, if you haven’t listened to the album yet, please hold out until the official release. I wish I had saved my first listen for the vinyl, at least my second listen will be.
Well until your vinyl arrives at your doorstep or at your local record shop, here’s “Cheerleader”:
