London-based onethirtybpm favorites Fanfarlo have announced the release of the single ‘Drowning Men’ from their debut album Reservoir.
It will be released on May 4th on the label Moshi Moshi and will feature the song ‘Sand and Ice’ as its B-Side. The fantastic cover art seen above was taken by Lilja Birgisdottir who also took the photo on the cover of the aforementioned debut album.
They will also be touring the UK in May. Dates after the jump. Read the full story
Fanfarlo‘s debut is being released next month. It’s called Reservoir and was produced by the legendary Peter Katis. The band has just revealed the artwork and a new track from the album, titled “I’m A Pilot”. From the metadata we can tell that it’s the first track on the album out of eleven. I could not possibly be any more excited at the moment. Check it out:
We spoke with Amos and Mark of the London based indie pop/folk band Fanfarlo about the recording of their debut album with producer Peter Katis at his studio in Connecticut and their plans for the future.
So we’ve just made a video. This song was released a while back on a limited 7″, but we’ve got a awesome new version of it on our album, and that’s what is in the video. It features mad professors, things turning into coloured blobs and us exploding! Directed by Stachemou. Check it out.
PS.
We will be giving away some songs from the album to you, our dear mailing list friends, pretty soon… stay tuned.
Love,
Fanfarlo x

I’m really excited for their upcoming debut. But oddly it seems that guitarist Mark has left the group. Very peculiar to leave a group before the release of a debut album. He’s still in the video though.
Keep an eye out for these guys in 2009. They’re one of the bands that I feel will truly break out.
Fanfarlo has posted another video diary on their site:
Mark, guitarist of the band, writes:
So we’ve made it to Connecticut, to Tarquin Studios where we’re going to be putting our album together over the next couple of months. It’s a great studio, on the top floor of this amazing old house and we’ll all be living here too, staying in rooms on the floor below. We’re all going to take turns cooking, and Cathy and I are going to try to make a Theremin…

Keep an eye on these guys, I expect them to make it big over the next year or so. If you’re not familiar with them, give them a listen over at their Myspace page.
