Productive Pennsylvanian psych pop-rockers Dr. Dog will return in February with Be The Void, their sixth full length album, and follow up to 2010′s Shame, Shame.
Those who are looking for Dr. Dog to change up their sound a little at this point in their career will be pleased to hear that that is exactly what they’ve attempted to do on Be The Void. Reportedly, this time around less emphasis was placed on creating pop-leaning album and efforts were taken to create something from their gut, which produced a cathartic rock’n'roll affair.
Singer Toby Leaman says of the natural method of recording recording “There wasn’t this endless deliberating. We just went with our gut feelings on things.” Guitarist Scott McMicken says that “It was reminiscent of when we were starting out and were these fearless weirdoes in a basement, so confident and reckless and bold… It was really liberating.”
Be The Void is due out on Anti- Records on February 7th. Check out the track list below.
