Although the sad end of summer approaches, not everything is as depressing as it seems. Austin, Texas’ The Strange Boys are beginning a month-long fall tour with Gentleman Jesse and His Men, giving fans of timeless rock n’ roll something to look forward to.
Comparable to the 13th Floor Elevators, the Strange Boys bring a sound to the year 2010 that is familiar to fans of psychedelic/garage rock n’ roll as well as incorporating new and current trends in this genre. Signed to In the Red records, it is easy to see how this band fits in well; the label is also home to Black Lips and Mark Sultan.
Opening for Gentleman Jesse and His Men, this tour seems to be one to follow if the lack of recent garage is getting you down. Having started their tour on September 2nd at the Saturn Bar in New Orleans, LA, the bands will be on tour until the 3rd of October, ending up in Memphis, TN. Dates can be found here on MySpace. For those of you who aren’t being graced with the presence of these bands in your hometowns, don’t fret; The Strange Boys formed in 2003 and have been on tour almost entirely since their formation, you’ll probably see them much sooner than later.
Following the release of their third album The Black Dirt Sessions, Deer Tick are heading out on the road to air their new songs in a live setting. Check them out if they’re coming to a town near you, dates below.

Woah! According to Weezer’s guitarist Brian Bell, a Pinkerton tour might be on its way.
Bell was interviewed at the Mile High Music Festival, and discussed the new album Hurley, and the Pinkerton reissue which will include new packaging and possibly a tour.
Check out the full interview below.
We’re certainly excited by the possibility. Although we here at One Thirty BPM have been disappointed by Weezer’s recent efforts, we still love Pinkerton and can’t knock Weezer’s great live performance, especially when drummer Josh Freese was brought onto last year’s Blink-182/Weezer tour. Regardless if Freese returns for any future tours, a Pinkerton tour would truly be something.
After debuting #1 in the U.S. this week, Arcade Fire are ready to take on the rest of America. The tour will be in support for their critically lauded album The Suburbs. Be sure to check them out, as they put on one hell of a show.

Chamber-pop master Sufjan Stevens has announced a 24-date North American tour, from mid-October to mid-November. According to the Asthmatic Kitty website Sufjan chose the venues carefully himself in order to play some of the most beatiful and oldest venues on the continent.
Asthmatic Kitty will be putting a limited number of tickets on sale tomorrow at a more reasonable price than what Ticketmaster are likely to offer. The tickets go on sale at 1pm EST at http://asthmatickitty.com/sufjan-2010 – but that URL is already struggling so who knows how many F5′s it will take to get the page to load at the zero hour tomorrow. At Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club, fans watched as Canadian DJ-slash-producer Deadmau5 (a.k.a. Joel Zimmerman) buckled under the pressures and physical taxations of exhaustion and suddenly collapsed onstage during his performance last Friday night.
Reports indicate that medics and venue employees helped him get to the hospital, where he remained under medical supervision.
According to the official Deadmau5 website, on the advice of Zimmerman’s doctors, he is being forced to cancel several upcoming tour dates/festival appearances. Let’s hope that he quickly regains his health.
