There’s been plenty of online susurrus and conjecture surrounding the release of elf-voiced folk star Joanna Newsom’s third long player lately. A few weeks ago, the album’s title, Have One On Me, was revealed through a peculiar cartoon posted on record label Drag City’s website, and “’81”, which is the only track definitely confirmed on the record, has been taken down from that same website after having been posted as a free stream yesterday.
Rumours that the new record would comprise three separate discs have now been confirmed. There are no other official details established as yet, but there is, of course, plenty of speculation as to what the track listing will eventually entail, especially given Newsom’s showcasing of new songs during her recent Australian tour. The following rumour has been posted on Milky Moon, a Joanna Newsom forum:
Disc One:
1 – Easy 06:04
2 – Have One On Me 11:02
3 – ‘81 03:51
4 – Good Intentions Paving Company 07:02
5 – No Provenance 06:25
6 – Baby Birch 09:30
Total: 43:54
Disc Two:
1 – On A Good Day 01:48
2 – You And Me, Bess 07:12
3 – In California 08:41
4 – Jackrabbits 04:23
5 – Go Long 08:02
6 – Occident 05:31
Total: 35:37
Disc Three:
1 – Soft As Chalk 06:29
2 – Esme 07:56
3 – Autumn 08:01
4 – Ribbon Bows 06:10
5 – Kingfisher 09:11
6 – Does Not Suffice 06:44
Total: 42:31
Whether that’s true or not, we can’t say. To pass the time until more details emerge, watch the reasonably HQ footage below from Newsom’s show at the Sydney Opera House last week, which included a wealth of new material.

If it feels like it’s been eons since the last OutKast record, that’s because – well – it has. Six years, anyway, since the release of the all-conquering Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, and over three years since the group’s last official project, the soundtrack to their own Idlewild film.
Rumours of a new LP are flying after Big Boi, one half of the hip hop duo, mentioned the possibility of a new OutKast album following the release of his solo effort early in 2010, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. If nothing else, it has a ridiculously fantastic title. An Andre 3000 project will also, apparently, follow.
“This is all in the next year or so,” Big Boi told Billboard, “starting with my album coming at the top of the year, Dre 3000 right after me…and when the solo albums come out, depending on how the fans support them, then we’re gonna give them the Outkast album.”
Well, let’s hope these two solo records sell well, then.

Jónsi Birgisson, singer of Icelandic outfit Sigur Rós seems to have a new project, at least according to the clips on his new website jonsi.com.
This follows on from his album earlier this year Riceboy Sleeps with partner Alex Somers. One listen to these three short clips will immediately tell you that this project seems to be much similar to the work he has done previously with Sigur Rós.
At the moment there isn’t really any other information to go on, but make sure you head to the website to hear the clips and chalk it up as yet another album to anticipate in the coming year.

Jay-Z: ‘Poet’
- During an interview with NME Jay-Z has claimed that rappers are ‘the poets of our generation’, saying artists need to talk about ‘hard truths’ in their records. He lauded his groundbreaking appearance at Glastonbury 2008 as ‘knocking the door down’, and insisted that despite his closeness to President Barack Obama he would not be toning down his lyrics. Jay-Z recently scored his first UK number one single with Run This Town.
- Leonard Cohen is reported to have fainted onstage during a concert in Spain on Friday. Despite the collapse, said to have been caused by food poisoning, his tour will continue as normal with a performance in Barcelona tonight.
