MP3: Blind Man’s Colour – “Jimmy Dove (SKYWAY Remix)”

What the hell is a SKYWAY?

Why, it’s the new project of Kyle Wyss (aka Chromatic Flights) of Blind Man’s Colour; a collaboration with rapper Rufat.

Kyle writes:

i found a rapper from the same home town via a mutual friend. we’re called SKYWAY after a big bridge in our hometown of st petersburg florida. we’re working on an album right now where I produce music, he raps on them and then i sing hooks occasionally. he wanted to remix jimmy dove so we made this

The two have taken the BMC original “Jimmy Dove” and have truly pulled off a true ‘genre-hop’, the result is quite euphoric. If only those Florida kids would hurry up with the full album.

MP3: Raaaaaaaandy & Dave Sitek – “AAAAAAAANGRY”

Through his hip-hop alter ego Raaaaaaaandy, comedian Aziz Ansari and TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek are getting ready to release a mixtape, in case you haven’t already heard. Ansari has recently posted a link to the song “AAAAAAAANGRY” which calls out a whole slew of MCs, all of whom Ansari’s character claims were supposed to contribute verses to the mixtape. Among others, Eminem, DOOM, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Drake have to face Raaaaaaaandy’s wrath. Fortunately, Ansari has uploaded the track for streaming or downloading on his tumblr blog. Hear it to experience the hilarity for yourself. You can even catch RZA contributing his opinion at the very end of the track.

MP3: Erykah Badu – “Window Seat”

Erykah Badu’s forthcoming fifth studio LP, New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), is due at the end of March, a sequel to 2008’s New Amerykah Part One (4th World War). With production assistance from Madlib, J Dilla, James Poyser and Georgia Anne Muldrow, amongst others, the album promises to be one of the most accomplished urban releases of 2010.

Just a few hours ago, Badu leaked the first single from the new record, “Window Seat”, via her Twitter account. It’s a sparkling piece of late night, loungin’ neo-soul, filled with bongo and sultry vocal. You can download the song for free here.

New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) is slated for release on 30 March 2010 on Universal Motown.

MP3: Justice – “Beginning Of The End”

Justice, they of the religious iconography and hipster T-shirts, fronted the world with their startlingly danceable dirty French house debut, † (or Cross), in 2007. It looks like there’s new material on the way in 2010, with a new single just posted on GorillavsBear called “Beginning Of The End”. There’s no vocal part, some computerised brass, and after a few listens it’s already proving to be pretty obnoxiously catchy. Stream it here.
